Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Department of History, Philosophy and Religious Studies at Eastern Kentucky University welcomes applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of History with a specialization in East Asia, to begin August 2025 (ten-month academic appointment). All regions or periods in East Asia studies will be considered. The successful applicant is expected to have teaching experience, be actively engaged in research, and contribute to oversight of the department’s inter-disciplinary minor in Asian Studies. The successful applicant will be expected to teach general education courses in World History as well as upper-division courses related to East Asia. The teaching load is 4/4—four sections comprised from two, sometimes three, preps each semester.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Earned Ph.D. in History, with a specialization in East Asia, or an earned Ph.D. in East Asian Studies with a focus on history, from an accredited institution at time of appointment. ABD applicants may be considered but must have a Ph.D. (verified by official transcripts) at the time of appointment.
