Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Department of Computer Science & Information Technology at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems for Academic Year 2024-2025. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. ABD applicants may be considered but must have a Ph.D. (verified by official transcripts) at the time of appointment. Applicants are expected to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills with undergraduate students and the University community. The position begins January 2025 or August 2025.
The position serves the newly launched program in Management Information Systems, which is designed to meet the needs of current and future professionals interested in computer-science based careers in the information technology sector. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate on-campus and/or online courses that may include, but are not limited to, Intro to Management Information Systems/Business Programming, Database Management, Networks and Telecommunications, Intro to Web Programming, Information Systems Analysis and Design, and Business Data Management and Analysis in a 4/4 annual teaching load. The successful candidate will also help revise MIS curriculum, develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda, conduct academic advising, and participate in service to the department, university, and community. In addition, membership in state, regional, national, or international professional organizations is recommended.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Earned Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. ABD applicants may be considered but must have a Ph.D. (verified by official transcripts) at the time of appointment.
