Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for Academic Year 2025-2026. Applicants should hold an earned Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, Biostatistics, or a related field with a specialization or emphasis in statistics from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. ABD applicants may be considered but must have a Ph.D. (verified by official transcripts) at the time of appointment. The position begins August 2025.
The position serves the Data Science and Statistics majors and supports all department programs. It requires data science skills; programming experience in R, Python, or SAS; and the ability to involve and engage students in graduate and undergraduate research. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in a 4/4 annual teaching load, develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda, conduct academic advising, and participate in service to the department, university, and community. In addition, membership and participation in state, regional, national, or international professional organizations is recommended.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Earned Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, Biostatistics, or a related field with a specialization or emphasis in statistics from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. ABD applicants may be considered but must have a Ph.D. (verified by official transcripts) at the time of appointment.

• Knowledge of current practices in statistics and data science

• Ability for teaching excellence in general education courses
• Knowledge to effectively teach statistics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels
• Evidence to establish a scholarship program
• Ability to contribute to the department in terms of service such as advising, recruiting, and statistical consulting
Licensure & Certifications:

• Data Science skills
• Programming experience in R, Python, or SAS
• The ability to involve and engage students in graduate and undergraduate research
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching at the college or university level as an instructor, faculty member, or teaching assistant
