Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Executive Director of Accounting & Controller directs the accounting and financial operations of the University. Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of all University accounting systems, including post-award Sponsored Programs Accounting, and the EKU Foundation. Provides leadership, structure and resources to ensure that the division is efficient, effective, compliant, and customer focused, that accounting record-keeping and reporting are timely and accurate, and serves to ensure financial and regulatory compliance of the University. Provides leadership and technical guidance for assigned areas of university accounting, student accounting, and sponsored programs accounting

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
MBA, MPA, or Masters in Accounting or other related Business Field preferred.

Experience: 5 years of progressive management and leadership experience is required
Higher education accounting experience is preferred

Licensure & Certifications: CPA, CIA, and/or CMA designations are preferred.

Job Duties:

  • 35% - Directs the operations of all accounting activities for the University and ensures excellent customer service in all Accounting Activities. - (Essential)
  • 30% - Monitors compliance with applicable state and federal laws, develops and maintains appropriate fiscal policies and procedures for the University, and makes recommendations for improved effectiveness and compliance. - (Essential)
  • 30% - Oversees financial and management reporting, conducts financial analysis, and ensures that all Accounting/Financial data management and/ or systems are selected, implemented, maintained and updated as required by the needs of the University. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned. - (Essential)
