Job Summary/Basic Functions

Colonel Crew volunteers are responsible for helping all new first-year Colonels positively connect, transition, and build excitement for their Eastern college experience within their first week on campus. Colonel Crew volunteers will partner with a small group of first-year students as they engage in dynamic programming, discussions, and experiences during the Big E Welcome.
Colonel Crew Volunteers support the participation of Big E Welcome events and programs. Volunteer responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-Assist groups of first-year students through activities and discussions designed to build their connection, excitement, and knowledge of EKU

-Assist with on-campus move-in to residence halls

-Maintain open and respectful communication with Big E Intern and first-year students within the group

-Share tips, experiences, and resources from personal EKU experience

-Promote the pillars of Exchange, Excite, and Excel of the Big E Welcome experience

-Create a positive and welcoming environment at all Big E Welcome events

-Participate in in-person events and activities

-Abide by the Colonel Crew Expectations Contract and the EKU Code of Conduct

-Any other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must complete Volunteer Eligibility Questionnaire
  • Must complete Volunteer Service Agreement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Decision-making skills, effective time management, organization, strong work ethic, exceptional maturity, energy, and enthusiasm
  • Ability to connect with first-year students, parents, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • Demonstrated interest in helping others
  • Have an appreciation for and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and personalities

Job Duties:
