Job Summary/Basic Functions

Oversees and manages services within the regulations set forth by the U.S. Department of Education to assist first- generation, low-income, and/or academically at-risk eligible veterans in eight target area counties to be prepared to succeed in postsecondary education.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in education, counseling, higher education, education administration, public administration, or other related field is required.

Experience:
Five (5) years of related experience in higher education is required, as well as direct service experience with meeting academic, social and economic needs of low-income/first-generation/disabled or disadvantaged student populations.

Licensure & Certifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

-Previous experience as Director or Assistant Director of a TRIO Program preferred but not required.
-Demonstrated ability to form partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.
-Ability to lead and manage a small team of employees.
-Grant writing, budget management, and knowledge of academic and financial procedures at the collegiate level.
-Honorably discharged Veteran of the US Armed Forces is preferred, but not required.

Job Duties:

  • 40% - Oversee all EKU Veterans Upward Bound program activities, including but not limited to, establishing relationships with service agencies and other external stakeholders and ensuring the program is compliant with laws and regulations. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Supervise and professionally develop program staff. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Develop and disseminate budgets, grant proposals, and other reports and maintain and submit required records of program activity and participants. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Support the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned. - (Essential)

Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship will be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending upon the needs of the unit, available sponsorship budget, and the qualifications of the candidate.
