Fred Parker Giles Gallery in the Campbell Building seek a student Graphic Designer to assist in the promotional materials for an active university art gallery that hosts a diverse range of exhibitions annually. No previous gallery experience is necessary, but experience and proficiency in design and Adobe Creative Cloud is required. An ideal employee for this job is well spoken, eager to learn, punctual, good communication skills, works well independently and with the gallery director and has a strong understanding of good design. The graphic designer will contribute to a range of promotional duties such as designing exhibition posters and postcards, making designs for social media post for upcoming events, documenting opening receptions and using them for publicity purposes on social media platforms for Giles Gallery.
Giles Gallery has open hours Monday-Friday 11AM-4PM.
Applicants must have some availability between Monday-Friday from 10AM-5PM to work during open hours. Giles Gallery also has occasional public receptions and artist lectures on Thursday evenings (5:00-7:00PM) and Sunday afternoons (2:00-4:00PM), Giles Gallery Assistants take turns working these shifts and could also document events the Graphic Designer cannot attend.
Desirable Skills
• Students with knowledge and proficiency of Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite are encouraged to apply.
• Students with experience and knowledge of designing posters and postcards and getting them print ready are highly encouraged to apply.
• Students interested in marketing and promotions on social media and print media are encouraged to apply.
• Students with talents in event photography, videography and/or graphic design are encouraged to apply.
• Students that love being surrounded by art and design should apply!
