Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Office of Student Affairs is seeking a student with front-desk experience and interpersonal, hospitality-based skills for the Powell Welcome Desk. The Powell Welcome Desk is the front door of the student center, and student employees will act as an extension of the Student Affairs office located in Powell. We are looking for fun, lively, engaging, and hospitable students who are excited to be the representatives of our area!
Student staff are expected to be alert and greet any patrons who walk past the Powell Welcome Desk. Patrons include campus personnel (students, staff, faculty, etc.). Student staff should also have good knowledge of landmarks and buildings around campus. Basic knowledge of regular campus functions and resources (Big E Central, the Counseling Center, etc.) is also required. Students will also assist in finding, securing, and reporting any lost items found in Powell.
The Powell Welcome Desk is located directly in front of Powell’s game room, therefore student staff will also manage game room duties. This includes monitoring the game room, helping students check in and out equipment, and reporting any damage to equipment or to the room. Student staff may also be asked to do walkthroughs of Powell to report any issues to the building manager. There will be other duties as assigned, including maintaining the cleanliness of the front desk.
