Job Summary/Basic Functions

The student technician will serve as an integral component of the Engineering & Technology department. Working within the labs and classrooms, assisting faculty and staff with daily operations. The viable candidate must be able to work independently or as part of a team to complete daily tasks. They may work up to 10 hours per week during an academic semester and may be renewed as needed.

They are expected to be an enrolled student at EKU and follow all university operational and safety guidelines.

This is an institutional work study position.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Must be enrolled at EKU

Preferred Qualifications:

The ability to:
Operate manual lathes, mills, and other common machine tools safely and accurately.
Evaluate the general condition, accuracy, and maintenance needs of common machine tools.

Engineering and Technology majors are encouraged to apply.

Job Duties:

  • 100% - The student will need to work with professors and the program director to identify tooling that needs specific maintenance or decommissioning. The student will need to work with professors and the program director to install/uninstall equipment as necessary. The student will be responsible for basic lab upkeep, organizing, and cleaning. - (Essential)
