Job Summary/Basic Functions

Admissions Recruitment Ambassadors (ARA) are responsible for assisting in the creation of a welcoming, positive, and impactful visit experience at Eastern Kentucky University. Working primarily with prospective students, families, and guests, the ARA role is crucial to the recruitment process of the Office of Enrollment Management. The ARA role is one that requires consistent reliability, close attention to detail, and a desire to work with the public on a regular basis. The ARA position is responsible for the following:
• Leading tours of prospective students, families, and / or high school students to show campus and promote the EKU experience
• Assisting in the administrative functions of the Welcome Center which includes answering phones, emails, and interacting with the public and campus community regularly
• Assisting in the operations of the Welcome Center including maintaining inventory, setting up the space for events, restocking complimentary coffee and refreshment bar, and keeping the space tidy
• Participate in in-person Spotlight events, virtual events, and other special events hosted by the Office of Admissions
• Attend and participate in required meetings and training as outlined by the Admissions professional staff team
• Other duties as assigned which relate to assisting prospective students, families, guests, inquiries, and applicants

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled full time at EKU.

Preferred Qualifications:

The work schedule for Admissions Recruitment Ambassadors (ARA) is structured around the university’s tour times and special events. Ideal candidates should be available to work several full shifts each week. The standard shifts are as follows:

Monday - Friday:
8:00 am - 9:00 am
9:00 am - 12:00 pm
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Additionally, there are opportunities and requirements to work during special events such as Saturday visits and Twilight events held in the evening. The ARA position requires flexibility in scheduling to accommodate these varied times.

Job Duties:

  • 40% - Leading tours of prospective students, families, and/or high school students to show campus and promote the EKU experience - (Essential)
  • 20% - Participate in in-person Spotlight events, virtual events, and other special events hosted by the Office of Admissions - (Essential)
  • 10% - Assisting in the operations of the Welcome Center including maintaining inventory, setting up the space for events, restocking complimentary coffee and refreshment bar, and keeping the space tidy (10%) - (Essential)
  • 10% - Attend and participate in required meetings and training as outlined by the Admissions professional staff team - (Essential)
  • 10% - Other duties as assigned which relate to assisting prospective students, families, guests, inquiries, and applicants - (Essential)
