Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Assistant Director assists in the operations of the Office of First-Year Courses and Learning Communities, including curriculum oversight and instructional delivery. The Assistant Director manages and assists with comprehensive programs to meet the needs of first-year students and Student Success Seminar instructors both inside and outside of the classroom. The Assistant Director assists with scheduling, instructor assignment (including hiring and evaluation), curriculum design, assessment, and communication with students, faculty, staff, and University leaders. The Assistant Director represents the Office with University partners and the University with external groups involved in work relating to first-year instruction and learning communities. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree AND 18 completed course hours toward a Master's degree in college student personnel administration, higher education administration, an academic discipline, or related area is required.

Experience: Three years of related work experience is required, including experience with the first year experience or in a college or university setting with a diverse student population.

  • 35% - Oversee Curriculum, Development, and Assessments for EKU Student Success Seminars, including GSD 101 and College Success Seminars: ASO 100, BUS 100, EDO 100, HSO 100, JSO 100, SCO 100 - (Essential)
  • 25% - Teach GSD 101 and support students enrolled in assigned sections - (Essential)
  • 10% - Research best practices in supporting student success and provide professional development and training to Student Success Seminar instructors and Coordinator of First-Year Courses and Learning Communities - (Essential)
  • 10% - Advise students in Alpha Lambda Delta (Honor Society for First-Year Students) and support advising efforts with students in Student Success Seminar sections - (Essential)
  • 10% - Manage Communication and Outreach functions for First Year Courses in collaboration with Director. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Other duties as assigned - (Essential)
