Fred Parker Giles Gallery in the Campbell Building seeks student Gallery Technicians to assist in daily operations of an active university art gallery that hosts a diverse range of exhibitions annually. No previous gallery experience is necessary, but a love of art and design is required. Ideal employees are well spoken, eager to learn, punctual, and interested in art and design. Gallery Technicians will contribute to a range of duties such as greeting visitors, updating mailing lists, maintaining the gallery space, promoting exhibits on social media, assisting in exhibition installation, shipping, packing, and the careful handling of artworks for display.
Giles Gallery has open hours Monday - Friday, 11AM - 4PM.
Applicants must have some availability between Monday-Friday from 10AM - 5PM to work during open hours. Giles Gallery also has occasional public receptions and artist lectures on Thursday evenings (4:30-7:30PM) and Sunday afternoons (1:30-4:15PM), student staff take turns working these events.
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
• Students with knowledge of Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or Adobe Creative Suite are encouraged to apply.
• Students comfortable with hand tools such as hammers, drills, and basic hardware (nails & screws) are encouraged to apply.
• Students with past employment experience in guest services, hospitality, sales, and/or food service are encouraged to apply.
• Students interested in marketing and promotions on social media are encouraged to apply.
• Students with talents in event photography, videography and/or graphic design are encouraged to apply.
• Students that love being surrounded by art & design should definitely apply!
