Job Summary/Basic Functions

This role offers the opportunity to represent the Eastern Kentucky University brand across the University’s main social media platforms, create engaging content and serve as a student voice for current and prospective students in EKU's department of Marketing and Communications.

Education: Must be enrolled as a student at EKU.

Job Duties:

  • 45% - Key MarComm Responsibilities: - Create authentic, high-quality and engaging video and photo content that showcases campus life, student experiences, academic programs, events, campus buildings, lesser-known EKU facts, etc. - Brainstorm and pitch social media posts for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook and Threads to grow social media audiences and improve engagement rates - Capture and edit short-form video content that aligns with brand guidelines and trends - Attend and document key campus events to share real-time and/or recap content - Help brainstorm creative approaches to grow social media audiences and improve engagement rates - Potentially host and contribute to social media story takeovers, student Q&A sessions and/or “day in the life” style campaigns - Participate in university branded photoshoots - Participate in regular team meetings to pitch content ideas, share feedback and align on upcoming projects - Maintain consistent communication with supervisor and other ambassadors to coordinate content planning and deadlines and minimize overlap - Collaborate with the athletics teams to amplify key campaigns and initiatives - Support MarComm photo and video productions by serving as on-camera talent, interview participants, or extras - Complete assigned projects and event coverage by established deadlines - Act as a positive, professional representative of EKU, reflecting the university's values and image - (Essential)
  • 45% - Key Athletics Responsibilities - Manage and create content for Maroon Platoon social media accounts - Develop creative graphics, videos, reels, stories, and posts to promote EKU - Athletics events and student engagement opportunities - Assist in growing student interaction and engagement across social platforms - Promote upcoming athletic events, giveaways, themes, and special promotions - Attend EKU Athletics events to capture live content and engage with students - Assist with student section organization and game day atmosphere initiatives - Work alongside the EKU Athletics Marketing & Fan Engagement staff on promotional ideas and campaigns - Help distribute promotional materials and market events across campus - Serve as a positive and energetic representative of EKU Athletics and the Maroon Platoon - Assist with additional marketing and fan engagement duties as assigned - (Essential)
  • 10% - Other duties as assigned - (Essential)
