Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Coordinator of Aquatics & Youth Programs will provide oversight to the SRC Aquatic Center, as well as Aquatic and Youth programs. This position is responsible for creating and delivering events; hiring, training and supervising student employees; facilitating risk management training and ensuring Campus Recreation meets University, local, state, and national requirements with regard to aquatic facility and youth program management. This position oversees administrative functions and management of policies, programs and services that impact and enhance student life, department goals and learning outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science, sports management, recreation, and leisure, and/or related field required.

Experience: One years of relevant experience in a multi-use aquatic facility; supervising programs, staff, and events. One-year teaching experience in the area of aquatics in higher education preferred.

Licensure & Certifications: Red Cross Life Guarding and current Red Cross LGI certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Red Cross LGIT certification is desired.
● One of the following are desired: Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification, Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO) certification
● Preferred: Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
● Preferred: Youth Camp Provider Certification

Job Duties:

  • 30% - Oversee the design, implementation, management, delivery, and evaluation of assigned Campus Recreation programs including; aquatic, safety, and youth programming for students and community members. This includes but is not limited to; Colonels Camp, Birthday Bash reservations, FA/AED/CPR courses, WS/LG courses, private and group swim lessons, learn to swim program, aqua fitness classes, and various special events. - (Essential)
  • 30% - Conducts basic maintenance of pools and aquatic equipment including; regular safety inspections of the SRC Aquatic Center, maintain accurate records of pool chemical levels, submit and track success of facility maintenance requests, and ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal safety & environmental regulations as they relate to pool operations. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Oversee the onboarding, supervision, training, and development of part-time student and seasonal non-student employees, interns, and volunteers who support Aquatic Center and Youth program operations. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Assist in the coordination of scheduling the SRC aquatic center by campus and community groups. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned. - (Essential)
