Job Summary/Basic Functions

Position will utilize intervention strategies to help students with moderate and severe disabilities achieve greater behavioral and academic success. Position will design and implement innovative and research-based instruction for students in a laboratory school environment. In addition to providing daily instruction, the teacher will also be responsible for general duties of student supervision, as well as mentoring and instruction of university pre-service teachers. The successful candidate will be willing to support extracurricular opportunities for Model school students and other related functions as required. Faculty must also meet physical requirements such as standing, walking and lifting at least 40 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Experience:

Licensure & Certifications: Master's degree with Kentucky certificate for both elementary teacher and special education MSD teacher

Preferred Qualifications:

Successful experience as a special education teacher, especially with intervention strategies for behavioral challenges

Job Duties:

  • 80% - Design and implement innovative and research-based instruction for students utilizing intervention strategies. - (Essential)
  • 10% - General supervision and mentoring and instruction of university pre-service teachers - (Essential)
  • % - Remain current with required training and professional development - (Essential)
