Job Summary/Basic Functions

Model coaching positions are seasonal appointments. The baseball season is generally from February - June. Positions will ensure that KHSAA and EKU regulations and policies are observed during practices and events, provide coaching, role modeling and oversight of activities, and supervise students.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma and completion of KHSAA training or minimum of 64 college credit hours is required. Must be at least 21 years of age.

Experience: Must complete KHSAA and Model Lab School training requirements.

Licensure & Certifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

Successful baseball experience as a competitor and/or coach. Highly knowledgeable about the rules of the game and experience in working with student athletes.

Job Duties:

  • 75%% - -Work with Athletic Director and head coach to schedule practices and games. -Ensure presence at all scheduled baseball events. -Train and practice with student athletes using best practices for baseball and in accordance with all KHSAA and other national and state laws and guidelines. -Serve as a Model representative and liaison when interacting with Model parents and with employees, students, parents and community members of others schools - (Essential)
  • 15%% - -Complete all required training for coaches, including Model orientation and review of the coaches handbook -Serve as a role model, using appropriate behaviors and coaching techniques for student athletes -Assist in selection and oversight of assistant coach and ensure proper behaviors are maintained -Ensure proper maintenance and care of all athletic equipment -Adhere to student confidentiality policies and procedures -Follow proper protocol for student travel to competitions - (Essential)
  • 10%% - - Learn and communicate with students and parents through the school-approved ROOMS communication system - Complete other duties as assigned/requested by the Head Coach, Superintendent or Director of Athletics - (Essential)
