Job Summary/Basic Functions

This position is responsible for all school psychologist duties associated with Model Laboratory School students. The psychologist will plan, organize, and implement world-class educational programs in a P-12 laboratory school environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, and helps the school and University meet established goals. Model Lab School Psychologist is responsible for all school psychologist duties associated with Model Laboratory School students. Support includes working with special needs populations, student supervision, student assessments, writing psychological evaluations, attending ARC meetings to interpret assessment data, providing emotional, social and crisis counseling with students as needed, and faculty support, as well as support of the school's mission of pre-service teacher training, university research initiatives and university committee work.

Experience:

Licensure & Certifications: Master's degree in appropriate education course work from a regionally accredited university, and Kentucky certification for school psychology.

Successful experience as a school psychologist

Job Duties:

  • 70% - Provides all psychological duties associated with Model Laboratory Schools. • Work with special needs populations to provide psychological services • Conducts student assessments and write psychological evaluations as required • Attends ARC meetings to interpret assessment data • Provides emotional, social and crisis counseling with students as needed • Maintains a professional identity and integrity through application of legal and ethical principles • Provides faculty and administrative team support. • Helps to create a school environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students • Prepares for psychology/counseling sessions and shows evidence of preparation • Accurately and thoroughly maintains required documentation, including the Infinite Campus student information system. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school and university policy, and administrative regulation • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of behavior and assists with student self-regulation • Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the Laboratory School philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives • Provides progress reports as required • Maintains confidentiality and takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, student records, equipment, materials, and facilities • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and maintains order • Follows all University policies, procedures and Institutional Review Board guidelines, and adheres to Model Lab policies and procedures as outlined in the Model Laboratory School faculty handbook • Responsible for cooperation with students, professional associates, parents, staff, community groups, as well as University faculty, staff and administration • Cooperates fully with all investigations conducted by the University and the School as authorized by policy or law • Responsive and available for parent conferences and those conference should be scheduled as soon as possible and/or as needed - (Essential)
  • 15% - • Attends staff meetings and participates on School and University committees. Membership in appropriate professional organizations is encouraged • Maintains regular attendance • Participates in the School’s graduation exercises, include wearing appropriate academic regalia • Performs other duties as assigned - (Essential)
  • 5% - • Demonstrates progress in teaching, scholarship and service in areas related to education and departmental goals. Such productivity could include but is not limited to preparation and dissemination of curriculum materials, action research, published article/research, submission of a grant proposal, or presentation at professional conference • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence - (Essential)
