Job Summary/Basic Functions
The EKU Department of Engineering and Technology seeks an Institutional Work Study Student Lab Assistant, beginning Fall 2026, with options to renew as needed. This role primarily supports the department's laboratories, equipment and working spaces. Typical tasks can include assuring equipment is ready for student lab work, supporting lab maintenance, helping to create lab improvements, and assisting in the reconfiguring of our classroom and laboratory spaces. Student may also have opportunities to help prepare for department visitors (such as industry leaders) and/or to help with hosting events. Engineering and Technology majors are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or GED is required. Must be enrolled at EKU.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and tools such as Google Docs is desired. Interest in learning about electrical and mechanical equipment and tools. Wants to be an effective contributor to our team and can exhibit strong problem-solving skills. Prepared to undertake different tasks and roles depending on department needs. Effective communication skills are helpful - meeting with visitors, preparing exhibits or demonstrations, etc.
