Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Department of English at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a Lecturer for Academic Year 2025-2026. Applicants should hold an earned Master's degree in a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment and should have a minimum of three years of college teaching experience. Applicants should have expertise in composition theory and practice and additional expertise in one or more of the following areas: developmental or co-requisite composition, academic preparedness, literacy, critical reading, or Competency Based Education (CBE, option 9). This position will primarily be on-campus, face to face instruction; however, experience with online teaching is desirable. This position begins August 1, 2025.
The position serves general education courses in the English department, particularly co-requisite and first-year composition.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in a 5/5 annual teaching load.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Earned Master's degree in a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment.
Experience:
-Three years of college teaching experience
-Expertise in composition theory and practice and expertise in one or more of the following areas: developmental or co-requisite writing, academic preparedness, literacy, critical reading, or Competency Based Education (CBE, option 9).
-Knowledge of current practices in professional communication and social media
-Effective interpersonal communication skills
-Strong oral and written communication skills
-Analytic and problem solving skills
-Active and effective listening skills
-Ability to collaborate with peers and students
