Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Department of Applied Human Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Family & Consumer Sciences Education for Academic Year 2025-2026. Applicants should hold an earned terminal degree in Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. The position begins August 2025.

The position serves programs in Applied Human Sciences and Family and Consumer Sciences Education. It requires at least two years of experience in higher education. Expertise in apparel construction, interior design, and teaching methodology is preferred. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Applied Human Sciences and Family and Consumer Sciences Education, supervise and recruit students, maintain partnerships with state middle and high schools and the Department of Education, serve on Department, College and University committees, and participate in other academic functions.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Terminal degree in Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, or a related field.

Experience: 2 Years experience in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:

Expertise in apparel construction, interior design, and teaching methodology is preferred.

Job Duties:

  • 50% - Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Applied Human Sciences and Family and Consumer Sciences Education. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Supervising, and recruiting students. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Maintaining partnerships with state middle and high schools and the Department of Education. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Serving on Department, College and University committees and participating in other academic functions. - (Essential)
