Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Athletic Trainer of Football Sports Medicine is responsible for the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries to collegiate athletes. In addition, this position administers drug testing, insurance coordination, and travels with athletic teams to all events. The incumbent reports to the Assistant AD Sports Medicine in the administration of a Division I intercollegiate Athletic program in adherence to all university and Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure regulations. Incumbent will also serve as the secondary trainer for Football and other sports assigned by the Assistant AD of Sports Medicine.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in athletic training or related field is required.

Experience: A minimum of one of experience in collegiate athletic training is required. Football preferred. Eligibility to be an approved clinical instructor/supervisor is preferred.red

Licensure & Certifications: A minimum of one of experience in collegiate athletic training is required. Football preferred. Eligibility to be an approved clinical instructor/supervisor is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Job Duties:

• 60% - Prevent injuries, treat sports related injuries, and rehabilitate assigned student athletes including taping, bracing, first aid, surgery consultation, medical communication, therapy, and follow up exercises. Monitor environmental conditions. - (Essential)
• 25% - Assist with the compilation, input, organization, and maintenance of all medical records on University student-athletes, and share in the responsibility of maintaining and organizing the athletic training room file system and departmental handbooks - (Essential)
• 10% - Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, policies and procedures - (Essential)
• 5% - Complete all other duties as assigned to ensure the successful operation of the department - (Essential)
