Job Summary/Basic Functions

The College of Business at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for Academic Year 2026-2027. Applicants should hold an earned Ph.D. in Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) or a related field from an AACSB-accredited institution at the time of appointment. ABD candidates may be considered with evidence of a scheduled doctoral defense that occurs no later than May prior to a Fall appointment. The position begins August 2026.

The position serves Risk Management and Insurance majors and minors. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses throughout the RMI curriculum in a workload consistent with the needs and priorities of the college and institution. The position provides the opportunity to help teach faculty-led study abroad classes in Bermuda and London, England. The successful candidate will also develop and maintain an active research agenda in RMI, actuarial science, or a related area in peer-reviewed journals consistent with college requirements for Scholarly Academics; conduct academic advising; and participate in service in support of the program, college, and university. Membership and participation in state, regional, national, or international RMI organizations is recommended. Experience teaching face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses is desirable.

The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline and/or a willingness to pursue professional development to acquire such expertise.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: An earned Ph.D. in Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) or a related field from an AACSB-accredited institution at the time of appointment.

ABD applicants may be considered with evidence of a scheduled doctoral defense that occurs no later than May prior to a Fall appointment.

Experience: The successful candidate will present evidence of teaching and research effectiveness.

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant credentials (e.g. CPCU, other professional licenses and designations) are welcomed but not essential. Experience working in risk management or insurance is desired but not required.

  • 40% - Maintain a workload consistent with the needs and priorities of the college and institution, teaching courses as assigned at the times and in the locations necessary to meet the needs of EKU students. - (Essential)
