About the College/Department: The Adult & Transfer Center at Eastern Kentucky University is dedicated to facilitating a smooth and supportive transition for transfer students/adult learners. As a vital bridge between EKU and prospective students, we pride ourselves on offering personalized guidance through the initial stages of university life, extending support from the point of recruitment to advising through the first semester.

 

Job Summary/Basic Functions

The duties of this position includes representing Eastern Kentucky University to prospective transfer students and personnel throughout the KCTCS campuses and other institutions. The incumbent will act as the direct contact between prospective students, families, and personnel to the EKU Adult and Transfer Center. The incumbent will identify, recruit, and assist with the enrollment of qualified transfer students from an alphabet-assigned caseload to provide a seamless process for the enrollment of transfer students. This position encompasses both recruitment of new students and advising them through their initial semester, deferring to the program advisor if necessary. This position will be based at EKU and will require some travel to maximize EKU presence in the region.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

Experience: Two years of experience in an academic advising, recruitment or admissions capacity is required for Transfer Advisor position.

Three or more years of experience in an academic advising, recruitment or admissions capacity is required for the Senior Transfer Advisor position.

Experience to include a working knowledge of the structure of higher education and general Higher Education Policy & Procedures is preferred.

Licensure & Certifications: Valid KY Driver's License

Job Duties:

  • 40% - Recruits prospective students through event attendance, distribution of recruitment materials, providing consultative services, assisting with prospective student events, and responding to email and phone inquiries. - (Essential)
  • 40% - Serves as a source of transition support for prospective students and acts as intake advisor for major, minor, certificate, and other university and program requirements. Liaises with departmental and college advisors to ensure accurate and timely advising. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Builds and maintains relationships to promote students, staff, and faculty engagement as well as to keep them informed of new EKU curriculum, programming, and initiatives. Works with community college partners to build and maintain student pathways. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned. - (Essential)
