Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Fire and Safety Engineering Technology Program at Eastern Kentucky University is currently seeking applicants for the position of Lab Coordinator.  The Lab Coordinator oversees the FSE programs equipment and facilities, ensures adherence to lab standards and practices to maximize safety and operational effectiveness, maintains hazardous materials, establishes and maintains inventory controls, performs or schedules routine maintenance and repair of equipment, sets up and assists faculty in delivery of laboratory demonstrations and activities, and supports all the laboratories and related activities in the FSE degree programs.  The ideal candidate will have a combination of experience with electrical, mechanical, fire service operations, and building construction.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience: • One year of experience in fire and/or safety or related field is required.

Licensure & Certifications:

Preferred Qualifications: A Combination of experience with electrical, mechanical, fire service operations, and building construction preferred.

Job Duties:

• 25% - Performs or Ensures Routine Maintenance, Repair and Up-grade of all Equipment in the all of the FSE programs Fire Protection Laboratory's and Burn Building/Explosion Range. - (Essential)
• 25% - Performs or Ensures Maintenance, Repair and Up-grade of all of the FSE programs Fire Protection Laboratory's, Burn Buildings, and Explosion Range. - (Essential)
• 25% - Coordinate with FSE (FPPS) Faculty, Student Organizations, Outside Groups or others, for the Use of FSE Program Facilities, Labs and Equipment. - (Essential)
• 25% - Ensure Timely Set Up of FSE program Class Related Labs; Supervise and manage any Student Employees in the Lab to Support Hands on Activities of the FSE Programs. - (Essential)
