Job Summary/Basic Functions

Senior Counselor for College Enrollment & Career Readiness for the College of Education and Applied Human Sciences provides integrated enrollment support and career readiness coaching for students within assigned academic colleges. This role supports prospective, admitted, and enrolled students by connecting academic programs to career pathways, assisting with enrollment engagement, and delivering career preparation services.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Higher Education, or a related field is required.
Master’s degree preferred in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Social Work, or Student Affairs.
Experience can be substituted for specific degree requirements but not educational level.
Occasional travel and evening/weekend work may be required for enrollment and engagement events.

Experience: Minimum two years of experience in recruitment, student success, career coaching, counseling, crisis intervention, or academic support services is required.
Experience working with at-risk student populations, retention initiatives, or case management is referred.
Strong understanding of data-informed recruitment, student development, academic advising, and persistence strategies.

Job Duties:

  • 25% - Enrollment & Yield Support. Utilize Slate CRM to manage and track the recruitment process efficiently, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation of all interactions. Analyze data and metrics to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities to enhance recruitment strategies. Establish and maintain strong relationships with prospective students, families, and high schools, emphasizing the unique value of the college you represent and providing guidance and support through the Admissions process as their main point of contact.-Assist the Dual Credit team in creating classroom presentations with interactive activities that highlight the College, as well as inviting Faculty to participate in presentations to create buy-in with students. Works with first-year, transfer, and returning students to ensure a smooth transition to EKU, identifying and addressing adjustment challenges. Assists students with navigating university policies, academic resources, and financial aid options prior to move-in and/or the start of classes. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Career Coaching & Career Services. Tailor one-on-one counseling sessions to address individual academic and career aspirations, ensuring a solid fit between the student and the college. Provides structured coaching sessions, workshops, and engagement programming focused on goal setting, career development, and career readiness. Schedule and conduct resume critiques, mock interviewing, and other in-class and out-of-class career readiness services and profile building activities, networking events, and career exploration opportunities. Provide job search tools and strategies. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Experiential Learning Promotion. Promotes internships, co-ops, and experiential learning opportunities Ensure educational success of students in co-op and internships by meeting with students to research and apply for co-ops/internships, serving as a resource for students to solve problems, advising students on requirements of co-ops and internships, and consulting with departments to ensure completion. Manage the co-op and internship process to ensure students, faculty and employers are educated about co-ops and internship process, opportunities and assignments. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Employer & Career Platform Engagement. Establish and cultivate relationships with target employers and organizations to enhance student/alumni employment opportunities. Assists with coordinating job fairs and other employer related events and outreach initiatives by developing college specific marketing strategies and materials. - (Essential)
  • 10% - College Liaison Role. Develop and maintain strong relationships with college deans, departments and faculty to foster a deep knowledge of the academic college and its programs, the related-industry and career outcomes, and support services within the college. Assist with the development of college specific orientation programming. Collaborates with faculty and college leadership on student success initiatives. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Outreach & Events. Host engaging virtual and in-person events, including college-specific information sessions and workshops, to showcase academic programs and foster excitement among prospective students. Utilize various digital platforms to connect with prospective students, showcase the college's academic programs, and facilitate seamless communication throughout the admissions journey. Travel to college fairs, recruitment events, high schools, etc. - (Essential)
