Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Student Success Center (SSC) achieves its goals through programmatic initiatives such as drop-in tutoring, mentoring, course-embedded Gurus, skill-building workshops, student professional development, and other recruiting and outreach events.
The Coordinator of Student Engagement is responsible for coordinating student engagement activities in the SSC and developing academic intervention strategies to enhance learning for high-risk and at-risk students or students who are underprepared academically.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master's Required. Preference given to Master's Degree in the areas of Student Services, Higher Education, Psychology, Counseling, Education, Special Education or a related field.

Experience: At least two years would be required for new staff to become fully competent in the skills of the job.

Job Duties:

  • 25% - Develops, coordinates, and implements programs designed to increase student retention, persistence, sense of belonging, and engagement in academic activities within the SSC for high-risk and at-risk students or students who are underprepared academically. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Monitors the progress of high-risk and at-risk populations of students, including special admits, informs them of resources to support them, and tracks the completion of success agreements and learning contracts. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Coordinates the SSC peer mentoring program; Facilitates the process of pairing students with mentors; Recruits, hires, and trains mentors according to established standards. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Identifies campus resources for Student Support Referrals as needed. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Supports the SSC office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned. - (Essential)
