Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Graphic Design Studio Assistant in the School of Art & Design will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of our department. This is a part-time position designed for a current student with a passion for graphic design and technology. Responsibilities include:
*Mac Lab Maintenance: Oversee the functioning of the Mac lab, ensuring all computers and software are up to date and running smoothly. Troubleshoot technical issues, perform routine updates, and liaise with IT staff for major repairs.
*Student Communications: Design and organize digital and printed communications, including newsletters, flyers, and posters for departmental events and announcements. Ensure communications align with the department's branding and visual identity.
*Printer Maintenance: Monitor and maintain printers and other output devices, replacing ink or toner cartridges, clearing paper jams, and coordinating repairs as needed.
*Equipment Inventory: Keep track of studio equipment such as graphic tablets, cameras, and other design tools. Ensure all equipment is in working order, check items in and out, and manage inventory records.
*Resource Organization: Assist in organizing design resources, including digital assets, stock images, and design software libraries, to ensure they are easily accessible to students and faculty.
*Lab Supervision: Monitor the lab during open hours, assisting students with any design or technical questions, and ensuring adherence to lab policies.
*Event Support: Assist in setting up for departmental events, exhibitions, and student showcases, ensuring the necessary equipment and materials are available and in working order.
The ideal candidate will have strong graphic design skills, technical proficiency in Mac systems and design software, excellent organizational abilities, and a customer-service mindset. This role offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic academic setting while contributing to the success of the Graphic Design program in the School of Art & Design.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensure & Certifications: Must be enrolled at EKU.
