Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Office of Student Affairs is seeking a student with front-desk experience and interpersonal, hospitality skills. Major responsibilities include aiding patrons (students, staff, faculty, community, etc.) in finding building resources both within and outside of the Powell Student Center, and providing other information to patrons as requested. This may involve walking or otherwise transporting patrons to where they need to go depending on the nature of the situation.
Student staff are expected to be alert and catch any patrons who may be walking through Powell 100. Student staff should also have good knowledge of landmarks and buildings around campus. Basic knowledge of regular campus functions and resources (Big E Central, the Counseling Center, etc.) is also required.
Maintaining the cleanliness of the lobby, including light dusting and wiping down of work and high-traffic surfaces (i.e. doorknobs, desks, etc.) will also be the responsibility of front-desk student staff. Daily walk-throughs of the Powell Student Center to ensure cleanliness. Student staff may also find, secure, and report any lost items found during walk-throughs.
Occasionally, student staff may be asked to manage PDFs and other digital files. Students may also be asked to create copies of physical files. Students may also be asked to create flyers or other media for the Office of Student Affairs using creation tools such as Canva.
